Black orchid in a fish bowl - character study
The preliminary pencil drawing was drawn with graphite pencils on 11x17 white cardstock paper.
The colored pencil drawing was drawn with Prismacolor pencils on 11x17 black cardstock paper.

I was interested in drawing from life, so I used a photo as my point of reference and went from there.
I came across this photo of what at first appears like an ordinary woman. But when I contrasted her with the white orchid in the fish bowl my mind started to play a little game.
The title is a play on words to evoke a character out of the everyday.
These are some short process videos I shot while working on these drawings.
I also scanned at different times throughout the drawing process to show the steps I take to layering my values and colors
